Rotary Club welcomes new president
The Rotary Club of Campbeltown has welcomed its new president, Andrew Ronald.
Former president John McDowall handed over to Mr Ronald at the club’s lunchtime meeting last Thursday.
Mr Ronald thanked everyone for their commitment and support over the past year and said he hoped that this would continue with the many events planned for the following year.
The biggest is the Sale of the Century, due to be held on October 4 and 5.
Mr Ronald outlined the logistics of organising this event and, with an ageing membership, told how it was becoming more difficult and urged members to encourage new people to join the Rotary Club.
Rotary is one of the world’s largest service organisations, with 1.2 million members around the world joining their local Rotary Club and making a difference in the community through volunteering. During the past 100 years, the Rotary Foundation has spent more than £2 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects around the world.
A spokesperson said: ‘The Rotary Club of Campbeltown has contributed, in its small way, to help achieve all this. With your generosity and support we hope to continue to serve our local community and international projects.’
