Down to the wire in bowling club pairs competition
Twenty teams entered Argyll Bowling Club’s Open Pairs competition on Sunday.
They played in four sections of five teams, with the four top teams going through to the semi-finals.
Play began at 10am, and the weather and green provided perfect conditions for good bowls.
All four sections went down to the wire, with two going down to the final bowl.
The semi-finalists were Archie Johnston and Bobby Dalziel versus John McLachlan and Bobby Mathieson, with Archie and Bobby winning; and Kathleen McGougan and Malcolm Maguire versus Steven McCallum and Johnny McCormick, with Kathleen and Malcolm winning.
Comfortable win
Archie and Bobby got off to a good start in the final and managed to keep their lead for a comfortable win.
A club spokesperson said: ‘A big thank you to Mac’s Taxis and Newgrove Furniture for sponsoring the competition, all players who participated and members who helped in the kitchen and bar.’
