Ailie scores 17th Dunaverty championsh­ip

The third and final round of Dunaverty Golf Club’s ladies’ championsh­ip was played in dry but cool conditions last Saturday.

Ailie MacBrayne took an early lead in round one, with a gross score of 75, followed closely by Elizabeth Marrison on gross 76 and Nichola Kidd on gross 80.

During the second round Ailie maintained her lead by scoring gross 78 (153 total), again closely followed by Elizabeth on gross 78 (154 total) and Nichola on gross 81 (161 total).

Round three saw only one point separating the first and second positions at the start of the day.

Ailie, however, maintained her lead, landing the ladies’ championsh­ip title for the 17th time with gross 74 (final total 227).

Elizabeth was second with gross 75 (final total 229) and Nichola was third with gross 80 (final total 241).

The handicap trophy was won by Katharine Hardman with a gross 80 (nett 62).

A club spokespers­on said: ‘Well done to all participan­ts over the three rounds.

‘The course was in fabulous condition thanks to hard work by greenkeepe­rs Haydn and Campbell and players were kept fed and watered throughout the competitio­n by Ailie, Rona and Mairi.’
