Mayberry’s fine furrowing
Despite some changes to the format, competitors at this year’s Largieside Ploughing Match continued to produce fantastic results.
It was Michael Mayberry, winning three of the five trophies up for grabs including the best overall award, whose furrows proved the finest at this year’s competition, held at Beachmenach Farm, Muasdale, on Saturday July 31.
The committee decided on a simplified match this year, in line with restrictions at the time which allowed the smaller numbers on the field.
A spokesperson said: ‘Massive thanks to Malcolm and Marion McDonald who hosted the match again on a grand lea field.
‘Judges for the day were Alex and Duncan MacKinnon from Carradale to whom we also owe our grateful thanks.
‘We are delighted it was a success and look forward to our usual match next year with spectators and catering to make it more of a day out for everyone.’
