Decisive win for U17s makes it two out of two

-

Campbeltown Pupils’ under 17s team made it two wins out of two in their Glasgow and District Youth Football League season when they welcomed

Finnart’s under 17s side to Campbeltown for the first time on Sunday.

With 12 minutes gone, the Pupils made it 1-0 following a fine run by Calum Ellis resulting in his cut-back being met first time by Ethan Parker who sent a delightful chip over the Finnart goalkeeper.

The home side continued to dominate the first half and extended their lead in the 29th minute when Euan Dott volleyed home from 10 yards to make it 2-0.

Finnart, to their credit, created chances but were thwarted by the strong defence of Dott, Kyle Paterson, Josh Arkell, Ryan Harding and Lorne Paterson in goal.

The half finished 2-0 despite further efforts from Scott Graham, Stuart Philips and Finlay Kerr.

The introduction of Andrew Semple and Ryan Shields for the second half allowed some positional changes for the home side.

Shields found Ruaridh Green with a delightful early pass and the youngster ran through before producing a calm finish to make it 3-0. Green made it 4-0 with a similar darting run after 70 minutes before Calum Ellis made it 5-0 with a fine through run from Graham’s pass.

Scott Oman replaced Paterson in the goal with 15 minutes to go and produced a fine save towards the end to give the Pupils their first clean sheet of the season.

The Pupils’ 2005s have no fixture this Sunday after their opposition requested a free week due to the Rangers versus Celtic Old Firm match.

They will be back in action at home on Sunday September 5 when they welcome Drumsagard to Campbeltown.
