Rotary returns to action
After two years of reduced activity, the Rotary Club of Campbeltown is emerging from lockdown with some plans for 2022.
Weekly in-person lunches have now resumed, after a spell of having speakers via video conferencing platform Zoom each week.
Members have enjoyed talks about fishing, driverless cars, former US president Donald Trump, plant physiology, family history and local personalities from speakers not only from across the UK but from Washington DC, Natal and Ottawa.
Nominations for deserving candidates for the Rotary Citizen of the Year and Rotary Young Musician of the Year prizes are also being sought – can you think of a deserving candidate?
Nomination forms for both prizes are now available from Fresh Connection in Main Street or can be obtained by emailing campbeltownrotary@gmail.com.
The club’s first public event this year will be a bric-a-brac sale at Campbeltown Heritage Centre Hall on Saturday March 26, from 10.30am to 1.30pm. The heritage centre will also be open that day for tea and coffee.
Anyone with any suitable donations for the sale are being asked to telephone 01586 830500 or email campbeltownrotary@gmail.com to arrange collection.
‘This is your opportunity to clear out things you no longer need and books you have read,’ said a club spokesperson. ‘Proceeds are distributed to local groups and international charities.’
