Oban Youth Café

-

Oban Youth Café has been supporting young people and their mental health through a wide range of activities since it was established in 2001. We are a small team and between us we work the equivalent of one full-time and one part-time job. All our staff have a youth work qualification and lots of experience. Three staff are trained mental health champions and/or mental health first aiders. We currently have two after-school groups on Tuesdays and Thursdays 4pm-5.30pm but, at the moment, most of our work is during the school day for young people who are referred by Oban High School and other agencies. In 2021, in the middle of pandemic, we worked with 178 different young people, running 88 one-to-one sessions and 161 group sessions. Activities included rock climbing, a music project, summer activities, sea swimming, loads of crafts and baking, a mural project, a climate change project, school time groups and after-school groups.
