Showing our garden love

-

I was so pleased to read the piece in last week’s Courier headlined ‘Show your garden some love this month’, and the suggestion of planting our own trees. So many trees are being cut down these days.

I suggested to my husband, John, that we should buy each other a tree for Christmas and plant them in the garden of our new home.

In fact, I ordered six – three each – dwarf fruit trees, due to high winds in Drumlemble, and we planted them in January. The apples are two x Golden Spur, two x Redspur and the pears are two x Lilliput Dwarf.

With fruit trees, there is also the benefit of fresh fruit in years to come, either for us or future residents in our home.

Diana Manning, Drumlemble.
