Walking football kicks off again
Fans of walking football have cheered at news the sport is returning to Campbeltown after a two-year break.
Walking football is exactly what is sounds like – a slower version of the beautiful game where players walk instead of run.
Available in Campbeltown to people aged 40 and older, it is designed to help people get fit and maintain an active lifestyle, no matter their age or fitness.
It also supports people getting back into football if they have given it up due to age or injury.
According to Walking Football Scotland, the sport has many benefits which may help improve not only people’s physical health but also their mental health.
It also offers social benefits as it allow participants to meet new people, forge new friendships
Campbeltown has a keen and friendly group of walking footballers who are glad to see the sport returning.
and eliminate feelings of social isolation.
Organised by liveArgyll, the Campbeltown sessions will take place weekly on Wednesdays from 7pm to 8pm, in the new venue of Campbeltown Grammar School’s sports hall.
