Help our fishing community

-

So the Scottish Government remains adamant over its decision to ban creelers from the Clyde for the next two months or so.

We’re not talking North Sea trawlers here that can go elsewhere in the interim. We’re talking about small family businesses whose livelihoods depend on them setting their creels in the Clyde.

Many have invested heavily in their boats and equipment and have no other option available to them but to sit it out.

Many employees of Dawnfresh Seafoods were brought to their knees recently after being denied a week’s wages. Our creel fishermen are having to survive 11 weeks.

Financial compensation is a must and government ministers should make it a priority to offer this before irreversible harm is done.
