The best in brass

-

With Campbeltown Brass’s continued success in competitions throughout many years, it would be easy to take it for granted.

But it is thanks to nothing but an incredible amount of hard work and dedication that it was voted the best band in the second section – just two shy of the championship section – at last weekend’s Scottish Brass Band Association’s Scottish Regional Championships.

Adjudicators described Campbeltown Brass as the ‘clear winner’; an amazing achievement made even more spectacular given the band has players as young as 12, the youngest performing musicians in the entire section.

It takes a lot of dedication to attend weekly practices at the best of times but for the band’s members to maintain their high performance level despite all the challenges of the Covid pandemic, is outstanding.

We should be so proud that the best second section band in Scotland bears the name Campbeltown, so let’s get behind the band and support its fundraising efforts ahead of its trip to the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain finals at Cheltenham in September.
