Clean up your act this spring

-

Community groups in Kintyre are being encouraged to join the 2022 Spring Clean Scotland campaign which runs until Thursday April 21.

Environmental charity The GRAB Trust, in partnership with Keep Scotland Beautiful and Keep Britain Tidy, is inviting communities across the peninsula and on the islands to join in with or organise their own litter picks knowing that there are thousands of people across the UK who are doing the same.

‘Communities across Argyll and Bute are leading the way with action against litter,' said Christina Saunders, project officer at The GRAB Trust.

‘Our data shows that in the last 12 months, over 1,000 people participated in local litter picks, of which 600 participants were under the age of 18; 48 cleans covered 72 kilometres, collecting over 460 bags of rubbish – an estimated 2.3 tonnes of waste removed.'

Heather McLaughlin, campaigns officer at Keep Scotland Beautiful, added: ‘We welcome the support of The GRAB Trust for Spring Clean Scotland and would love as many people as possible to join in and give Argyll and Bute a spring clean this month.'

The trust is available to provide information, advice and guidance to support any groups hoping to conduct litter picks. Free resources are available from liveArgyll locations.

Email lapickers@grab.org.uk to request a booking form and receive a free guide and checklist.
