So much to see

-

Campbeltown Loch has so much to see with its harbour, quays, the NATO jetty, Davaar Island and its lighthouse.

And do not underestimate how much wildlife you will see in the loch.

This short trip is a fantastic introduction to a rib boat and all that Mull of Kintyre Sea Adventures has to offer.

Campbeltown Loch and then on into the Kilbrannan Sound is another popular journey.

It is also a chance to see a unique piece of art by one of the world’s leading sculptors.

‘Grip’ is a sculpture created for Saddell Bay by Antony Gormley as part of the LAND installation to mark the Landmark Trust’s 50th anniversary; the trust is the owner of Saddell Castle. Saddell Bay was personally chosen by Gormley, because of the setting.

‘This is one of our most popular trips,’ said Haydn.

Longer trips take in Sanda Island, roughly half-way between Kintyre and the Northern Ireland coast.

The scenery is a magnificent backdrop for the stars of the show – our amazing wildlife.

Minke whales and basking sharks are often seen when in season

‘It all depends on the season of the year the weather on the day and of course pure luck,’ said Haydn. Seals, dolphins and porpoises are regular sights; and they are often just as curious about you as you are about them.

‘On a sunny day there is no better place to be than around Sanda looking at dolphins,’ said Melissa.

The birdlife is also incredible: puffins, gannets, razorbills are regulars and on a good day birds of prey including golden eagles, plus all the resident gulls and the occasional migrant species.

Do not forget to keep an eye on the shore as well, you often see deer or otters on the sands.

And of course there are the famous wild goats of Kintyre to look for.

‘Our ‘spot the wild goat’ competition on board is always fun,’ said Tracy.
