Trust grabs share of jubilee funding
Argyll and Bute environmental charity The GRAB Trust is one of just a dozen projects in Scotland to secure funding from the National Lottery in celebration of Her Majesty The Queen's platinum jubilee.
The trust has a share of £4.5 million awarded to 92 projects across the UK.
The two-year fund will support The GRAB Trust's intergenerational workshops, bringing people young and old together, to share skills in making and repairing, recycling and upcycling – small local actions that can have a big impact on climate change.
The trust wants to create a knowledge bank with how-to guides, a skills directory and a network of volunteers ready to champion waste reduction as part of its Waste No More! project.
‘The platinum jubilee fund will make a huge difference to ordinary people across Argyll and Bute in the next two years,' said GRAB Trust general manager Graham Love.
'The GRAB Trust will be working with communities in celebration of the platinum jubilee, helping to reduce the volume of waste going to landfill.
‘The Waste No More! project from The GRAB Trust is for everyone, young and old, bringing people together to share their skills across generations. The trust is looking forward to getting everyone making, mending, upcycling, repairing and repurposing; sharing skills and making the most of existing resources.'
