MOK FEST SET TO ROCK THE WEE TOON

The Mull of Kintyre Music Festival committee is delighted to announce that tickets are now on sale for the 29th live event. Some of the best bands and performers from across Scotland are set the rock this 5-day festival which runs from Aug 17 – 21. Headline acts are Elephant Sessions, Trail West, Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, Fìobha Ceilidh Band, Brian McNeill, Calum Alex MacMillan with Ross Martin and Slainte

Davaar Allstars.

The Saturday Night Glen Scotia West Coast Rocks Concert has two fantastic bands headlining. Elephant Sessions who exploded onto the indie folk scene winning Scots Trad Awards live Act and Album of the year awards and Trail West from Tiree who have been causing a storm on the Scottish music scene. Rhuvaal with their new 6-piece lineup will open the concert that promises to give us the full on west coast festival experience in the Victoria Hall

Headlining the Traditiona­l concert in the Heritage Centre, Campbeltow­n on the same night is a duo who need no introducti­on. Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham make a hugely popular return following their sell out concert in 2018. Supporting them is MG Alba Scots singer of the Year 2021 Ellie Beaton with Gillie O’Flaherty.

On Friday Aug 19 the Fìobha Ceilidh Band make their debut at the Festival Ceilidh Night. This Perth based Ceilidh band come with a huge reputation and are guaranteed to get everyone dancing. Also playing are a young six piece traditiona­l band, Cala from Inverness with a fresh and exciting sound. The Dalriada Connection­s Band featuring students and tutors from Campbeltow­n Grammar School alongside a core group of musicians open the concert sets. The evening starts with a rousing performanc­e by the Kintyre Schools Pipe Band.

This year’s Beinn an Tuirc Gaelic Concert in the Argyll Hotel, Campbeltow­n on Wednesday August 17 will headline with MOD Gold medalist, Calum Alex MacMillan. Calum who sang and played with Gaelic supergroup 'Dàimh' between 2006 and 2012 will be joined by the bands guitarist Ross Martin for this concert. The concert will also have a host of local and visiting artists with Christine Macintyre as Bean-an-Tigh

The following night, firm festival favourite, Young Folk Night in Campbeltow­n Heritage Centre on Thursday 18 features some of Kintyre’s finest young musical talent.

The Kilkerran Dalriada Connection­s Concert on Sunday 21 will also be in the Heritage Centre and headlines with legendary singer and multi-instrument­alist Brian McNeill. Brian has played with some of the most influentia­l bands of the past half century, including Battlefiel­d Band and Clan Alba. Joining him from Northern Ireland will be three piece band Ceólta who played a fantastic set when they performed at the festival in 2019. The concert once again will have the usual mixture of local and visiting musicians. Tickets include a free sponsors miniature at this event.

The legendary Survivors Night later that night will feature Campbeltow­n super-group Slainte Davaar Allstars who continue to come up with a fantastic set of new tracks each year. Rhuvaal will also perform along with FLING, Alex, Archie and Arran McAllister, SessionA83 with more acts to be announced. Alison M Leith will MC.
