MACC offers assistance to refugees
Machrihanish Airbase Community Company (MACC) has offered its help and use of its facilities to assist Ukrainian refugees fleeing the atrocities of the war in their country.
The business park owner is engaging with Argyll and Bute Council and partner agencies with a view to helping in any way it can, subject to its existing commitments.
MACC chairman Cameron McNair said: ‘The board of MACC is overwhelmingly supportive of using the facilities and assets on the former NATO airbase to assist with the humanitarian crisis in
Ukraine. Details are unclear at this point of when refugees are expected in Argyll and Bute and how many will require our assistance, but we are here to assist and are liaising with Argyll and Bute Council to establish how we can help.’
MACC is also offering free temporary storage to any groups in the Campbeltown area collecting essential items – in line with what is being requested by registered humanitarian charities – for the Ukraine crisis.
