Berta blows away all Dunaverty competition
Golfing great Robert Coffield produced a superb round during Dunaverty Golf Club’s 2022 Spring Meeting to claim the captain’s prize.
With the wind playing havoc during last Saturday’s competition, Robert – better known to many as Berta – set a very high standard.
Out in the second group, he posted a brilliant score of nett 58 which proved too tough a target for all who followed.
In total, 41 gents braved the wind to have a go at winning the prize on a course fantastically turned out by greenkeepers Jonathan Barbour and Campbell MacBrayne.
Hamish Kelly came closest to catching Robert but fell four shots short, with Bobby Dalziel one further back from the afternoon group.
In the end, it was Robert who took home the prize, supplied by Captain Donald Brown (Southend).
‘Thanks to Rona Burton and Mairi MacBrayne for providing catering for all players on the day,’ said a club spokesperson.
