South Kintyre

-

John Armour (SNP)

Being born and lived all my life in Kintyre, I am very proud to have been your councillor for the area for the last seven and a half years.

I have decided to stand again and, if re-elected, as I have done since day one, I will continue to work for everyone in South Kintyre.

I am married and have two grown-up daughters, I run my own sheep farm near Drumlemble and, with the help of family and friends, I am able to concentrate fully on my work as a councillor.

I am a presenter on our local radio station Argyll FM, and play a little golf and bowls when time allows.

Rory Colville (Scottish Liberal Democrats)

My family roots in Kintyre go back several centuries and, prior to becoming a councillor in 2003, my background was farming, mainly beef and sheep.

During that time, I involved myself in numerous rural organisations, both local and national.

In putting myself forward for re-election in South Kintyre,

I believe education, care in the community, housing and transport connectivity to be priorities.

I also want to prioritise our natural assets, one of which is our harbour. If elected, I would work to ensure the council, as the Statutory Harbour Authority for Campbeltown Loch, continues to invest and promote its use to new and existing enterprises.

Donald Kelly (Independent)

Born and bred in Campbeltown and married with four children, I have lived all my life in South Kintyre, currently residing in Drumlemble.

I was first elected in 2001 and am the longest-serving councillor in South Kintyre at present, and I have always given 110 per cent commitment to the community.

The next five years will be pivotal for South Kintyre in terms of development and new business prospects and I would relish the opportunity to continue engaging with new investors whilst also progressing the many current projects I am involved in.

I would therefore be grateful if you would consider continuing to support me at this election.

Tommy MacPherson (Scottish Conservative and Unionist)

I’m 51 years of age, a former Royal Marines Commando,

private security contractor and now a quartermaster with CalMac.

I’m an ACHA tenant residing in Saddell, have been an East Kintyre Community Councillor since 2017 and an ACHA Mid Argyll Kintyre sub-committee tenant member since 2018.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

If you want to continue having the same conversations, raising the same issues, exasperated with the same results, treated with the same contempt and disdain, then return the same trio at the polls and expect the same for the next five years.

I am standing for election to represent South Kintyre with a strong, new, clear voice.

There is only one vote and it is for change; time to progress.
