Co-op bingo fails to bring in a full house
A bingo night held by staff at Campbeltown’s Co-op supermarket raised just over £1,000 – but organisers say it could have been double if there was a full house.
While very grateful to everyone who supported the fundraiser in Campbeltown Bowling Club last Thursday, April 14, the Co-op team is disappointed by the lower than usual turnout.
The money raised by this and other similar events throughout the year is used to fund the requests the supermarket receives from community groups for donations including cash and raffle prizes.
‘A huge thank you to those who attended our prize bingo and supported us yet again,’ said a Co-op spokesperson.
‘It was probably the poorest attended bingo we have had to date, unfortunately; we normally have the hall to capacity. All the staff donate fantastic prizes and we normally raise in the region of £2,000.
‘It’s very disheartening for us when we support every organisation that asks us for donations, be it money or stock.’
