Fined £400 for growing cannabis
A Tarbert man’s horticultural endeavours did not impress the police or the Campbeltown sheriff and he was fined £400 for growing his own cannabis. Frank Ronald, aged 43, of 1 Glenfield, Tarbert, admitted producing and possessing a controlled drug, cannabis, at his home. Procurator fiscal depute James Dunbar told the April sitting of the Campbeltown Sheriff Court that police had visited Ronald’s home and discovered three cannabis plants in a cupboard lined with reflective material and fitted with heating lamps.
He told the police: ‘It’s not for supply, it’s personal.’
Sheriff Patrick Hughes fined him £400.
