Mary and Margaret quite the pair in Coronation Foursomes

-

During the course of the day and evening of Tuesday April 26, 16 lady members took to the course to compete in Dunaverty Golf Club’s pairs Coronation Foursomes.

It was all to play for as the winners of this competition have the opportunity to progress to a regional play-off. Although the daytime ladies had the advantage of sunny weather, a brisk northerly wind kept the temperature down.

Conditions did not affect the pairing of Mary Wilson and Margaret Richardson who played a very steady round and came in with an excellent score of 41 points to take the lead.

This was followed by Margaret Barr and Rona Young with 36 points. The evening ladies, despite their best endeavours, were unable to better the leading score, with Mary McKinnon and Inez Ronald producing a good challenge with 39 points.

Elizabeth Marrison and Katharine Hardman also carded a score of 36 points.

Results: 1 Mary Wilson and Margaret Richardson, 41 points; 2 Mary McKinnon and Inez Ronald, 39 points; 3 Margaret Barr and Rona Young, 36 points (bih).
