Learning disability team launches search for staff

-

Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership’s learning disability team has launched a campaign to recruit casual workers and bank staff.

Working within learning disability support enables people with learning and/or physical disabilities and complex conditions to access education, live in their own homes, find paid employment opportunities, develop life skills and become more involved in their community.

The team aims to recruit every three to four months to ensure adequate cover is available at the following locations: Greenwood/Woodlands in Campbeltown; ASIST in Dunoon; Phoenix in Bute; Lochside in Lochgilphead; and Lorne in Oban.

Rhiannon is a support worker at Phoenix in Bute and finds her job fulfilling. She said: ‘I applied for a position as a bank assistant development worker at Phoenix, Bute, in 2015, and worked my way up to become a full-time, permanent development worker.

‘I cried when I got the job. Knowing there are career opportunities and that I have the chance to develop my own skill set has kept me in this role.

‘What I love most about my job, however, is the people I support.

‘They are the most kind, caring people I have ever met and they have the biggest hearts. They are always smiling and I love watching them achieve their goals. I love going to my work every day, which is really important.’
