Last load for Ukrainian refugees leaves town

-

A bumper final load of clothing and essential items for those affected by the war in Ukraine has left Campbeltown.

Twelve pallets containing 160 boxes of women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, as well as blankets and dried food, donated by the people of Kintyre and Gigha, headed for Ukraine via Glasgow-based organisation Rise and Shine.

‘This is our last big dispatch,’ said Mandy Robertson, organiser of the Kintyre aid effort. ‘We will now only be collecting essential items when they are needed. We will advertise when they are required.’

She thanked all those who have helped and supported her during the campaign, in particular Kintyre companies AM Transport and Andrew Smith and Son, and Amanda Duffy Brown and Nikki Thompson of Lochgilphead and Surrounding Area Helps Ukraine, as well as everyone who has donated items over the last few weeks.

‘We are delighted that the donations are finally getting to those who are needing it most,’ she said.
