Historical links to be celebrated at concert
The Mull of Kintyre Music Festival (MOKFest) committee is delighted to welcome back Brian McNeill to perform at this year's Kilkerran Dalriada Connections Concert.
The Sunday August 21 concert, which celebrates the historic links forged during the creation of the ancient Kingdom of Dalriada, will be held in Campbeltown Heritage Centre.
Legendary singer and multi-instrumentalist Brian McNeill has played with some of the most influential bands of the past half century, including Battlefield Band and Clan Alba.
Brian, who performed at the first MOKFest in 1993, chiefly plays fiddle, bouzouki, mandocello, guitars and concertina.
He is also a well-recognised songwriter and has written songs including No Gods and Precious Few Heroes, The Yew Tree and Strong Women Rule Us All With Their Tears.
Brian will be joined by Ceolta from Northern Ireland, Scooter Muse from Alabama in the USA, Ross Conner and a host of local and visiting musicians.
This concert has become one of the hidden gems of the weekend, with the ticket price including a whisky miniature.
Tickets for all this year's concerts, featuring Elephant Sessions, Trail West, Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, Fìobha Ceilidh Band, Calum Alex MacMillan with Ross Martin and Slainte Davaar Allstars are available from AP Taylor on Campbeltown's Main Street and online at www.ticketweb.com.
