Marriage course couples have harmonious time together

-

Six Campbeltown couples have completed a series of relationship sessions to help keep their marriages harmonious.

Launched in 1996, The Marriage Course has been run in 127 countries for more than 1,000,000 couples.

Developed by Nicky and Sila Lee, authors of The Marriage Book, the course is said to help all relationships, not just those facing difficulties.

Based on Christian principles but designed for all couples with or without a church background, the course offers tools and practical ideas to help couples build and maintain a strong relationship.

Those who completed the seven sessions in Campbeltown, facilitated by Campbeltown Free Church, spoke of their experiences.

“The course was laid out really well,” said one couple. “It was presented, in video format, by a couple who guided us through different topics and gave us both time to converse in private.”

Another added: “From day one, The Marriage Course has helped our marriage in many ways and I believe it will continue to do so even though we have finished the seven sessions.”

One couple liked that testimonials from couples around the world were shared during the course.

“We both found these especially encouraging and could relate to some of the challenges they faced in their relationships,” they said.

“It’s a comfort to hear you are not alone in facing difficulties and to hear some of the ways these can be worked through.”

Another pair added: “This course surpassed our expectations.

“The content was excellent and it guided us in helpful, enlightening conversations and reflections about our marriage. We felt supported in a non-intrusive way.”

Other comments included: “It has helped us to understand each other more physically and emotionally”, “the course and its content is excellent, it has been very positive in clearing up misunderstandings around communication differences”, and “it has been painful at times bringing to light issues that we are sometimes not ready to talk about; it has been good for us to have to see our marriage as something important.”

Organisers hope to run another Marriage Course in Campbeltown.
