Tarbert gears up for annual Scottish Series

-

With less than three weeks to go until the Scottish Series sails into Tarbert, the village is getting ready to entertain visitors both in and out of the water, writes Janet West.

While the serious business of winning the coveted Scottish Series silverware takes place on Loch Fyne, the area round Tarbert Harbour becomes the centre for entertainment.

And there is something for everyone; whether you want to listen to music, find something to entertain the kids, grab a bite to eat or just chill out and enjoy the festival vibe, you’ll find a host of activities stretching across the weekend.

Food is always on hand during Scottish Series.

From the Tarbert Parent Council Big Breakfast running from early morning Friday to Monday, ready to set sailors up for a big day on the water, to early evening street food from Lulabelles of Tarbert, you can be sure you won’t go hungry!

Saturday is family day, with something for all ages.

The ever-popular remote-controlled boats return to the harbour, to entertain both the young and young at heart.

There’s a chance to sample some of Tarbert’s home baking and support a good cause, by heading to the marquee for some tea and cake run by the local soccer centre.

Youngsters can enjoy the football-based activities while you get the chance to sit down and catch up with friends.

Then it’s time for music, welcoming the boats home and getting ready for the big Saturday night party, headlined by Scottish Series favourites Big Vern and the Shootahs.

Of course, no Scottish Series Saturday is complete without fireworks from the castle, so make sure you stay around.

And that’s not all, you’ll be eased into Sunday afternoon with good music at the Sunday session back in the marquee.

Whatever you’re doing over the weekend of May 26-29, make sure you’re doing it in Tarbert!

?? ?? Tarbert hosted a scaled-down version in 2021 following the Covid pandemic but this year it will be back with a bang – literally.
The hope is to recreate the buzz of the Scottish Series this year – like seen here in 2018.
