Machrihanish Golf Club latest results
The May Midweek Stableford took place at Machrihanish Golf Club on Wednesday May 17, with 25 players competing from the yellow tees.
Throughout the day, the golfers were treated to some fantastic weather, and this was reflected in the excellent scoring.
Cameron McGeachy was the winner again last week, when he led the men’s section with 41 points.
Cameron’s round included six bogeys, five pars, and one birdie.
His sole birdie came at the par 3, 4th hole, which also made him one of only three players to score a gross 2 during the entire competition.
Commiserations went to Grant Grant who also shot a great 41 points, but lost due to Cameron’s better inward half.
Liz Casey’s superb form continued last week as she secured first place in the ladies’ section with a score of 40 points. Her scorecard included four bogeys, eight pars, and two birdies, with her birdies coming at the tricky 7th and 9th holes.

Last Saturday, eight ladies competed in teams of two in the Coronation Foursomes on the club’s Pans Course.
With a score of 37 points, it was the team of Elizabeth Casey and Linda McFadyen who took first place. 1 Elizabeth Casey and Linda McFadyen 37 points (overall winners), 2 Linda Wallace and Jennifer Gilchrist 35 points, 3 Helen Bapty and Morag McLean 32 points (BIH), 4 Catherine Dobbie and Alison Fox 32 points.
Also on Saturday, 53 players competed in great scoring conditions for the J W Logan Memorial Trophy.
Leading the men’s nett section and winning the trophy was David McGeachy, who shot an excellent score of nett 64. David’s steady scorecard of 44 out, 40 in,

minus his handicap of 20, allowed him to occupy sole first place.
In second place, Cameron Wylie continued his good form by recording a nett 66.
In the men’s gross section, it was Donald Johnson who took first place with a gross 72. Donald’s scorecard included three birdies, which came at the 6th, 7th and 13th holes.
Lee Mathieson kept up his great scoring, coming in second with a gross 74.
Catherine Reid won the ladies’ section with a score of nett 67. She returned a steady scorecard which included 6 pars and 12 bogeys.
Taking first place in the men’s 65+ section (yellow tees), it was Duncan Johnstone with a superb score of nett 63.
