West Kintyre Community funding up for grabs

-

Applications for grants from West Kintyre Community Fund are being accepted.

The fund supports community-led activities that are supportive, positive, strategic, creative and help to improve the future of the community of West Kintyre, from Kilkenzie in the south to Whitehouse in the north.

There are three areas of funding available for consideration by the fund managers:

▮ Educational bursaries – people residing in the area undertaking a first degree, further education college course or approved apprenticeship are eligible for an educational bursary.

Successful applicants will be awarded £1,000 a year for the duration of their studies, up to a maximum of four years.

▮ New small business start-up grants – grants may be available for any new, small businesses wishing to start up within the area and which have a business plan that clearly identifies the goals and aspirations for the future growth of the business.

▮ Legacy projects costing more than £2,000 – grants of up to 90 per cent funding may be available for currently operating community halls to help their future sustainability and reduce their carbon footprint by the installation of modern heating systems such as air-source heat pumps, modern high grade double glazing and wi-fi systems or to start a new community project. In this instance, all funding offered must be spent within one calendar year of the fund being offered.

Contact Margaret Pratt from West Kintyre Community Fund by emailing margaretpratt@btinternet.com for application forms or more information. The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday June 30 and funding interviews/decisions will take place in August.
