Start to S6 pupils S6 graduation

-

On April 18, S6 pupils and teachers from CGS came together to enjoy a graduation dinner at the Argyll Arms Hotel. Throughout the evening, they also played many fun games and lots of laughs were had.

The following day, the S6 pupils kicked off their final day of school with a delicious graduation breakfast, before parents and guardians arrived for their leavers’ ceremony.

Speeches were made by teachers and the school captains, and it turned out to be a moving ceremony, celebrating everything this year’s S6 pupils have done for the school and different charities this year.

Overall, the S6 class of 2024, along with the help of the school pupil council and younger pupils, raised more than £1,800 for many different local and national charities, an extraordinary amount.

Many of this year’s S6 pupils are going on to study a variety of subjects including teaching, geology, music, nursing, engineering, and a variety of college courses, with others going into local employment and starting apprenticeships in the world of work.

“We want to wish every single one of our S6 pupils every success in their new ventures and we also want to thank them for all of their hard work throughout this year,” said a school spokesperson. “They have been an asset to CGS this year and we will miss them.”

On behalf of the class of 2024, school captains Calum Scott and Iona Renton said: “We would like to extend our support for CGS going forward and hope to hear all about its continuing successes and improvements going forward.

“We want to express our gratitude to Kirsty Donnelly, the newly appointed permanent head teacher of CGS, for everything she has done for the school and S6 in her first year at CGS and we all wish her every success in continuing to improve and do what is best for the school and its wider organisations/community.

“We also want to thank all of the staff at CGS for putting up with our game shows and helping chaperone our dances.

“S6 also wants to thank parents/guardians and the local community for their support and donations throughout the year, as it was greatly appreciated by us all.”
