Tiger Moth Campervan

An aviation twist provides something a little different here

-

In a world that’s largely dominated by VW, it’s nice to see a converter offering something different. That’s exactly what Wiltshire-based Tiger Moth Campervan is doing with a model line-up exclusively built on the

Ford Transit Custom.

Tiger Moth Campervan offers three models based on the Ford Transit Custom base vehicle, all of which feature the popular side kitchen layout with a rock ‘n’ roll-style travel bench that converts to a double bed, come night-time.

Whichever model of campervan you choose, they all come on a new Ford Transit Custom in Trendline spec with a 128bhp (130PS) engine.

Alternatively, it’s also possible to order your campervan on a used base vehicle, with prices starting from around £35,000.

First up is the DH360, which made its debut in 2017. This is a four-berth model offering four travel seats, although a fifth is optionally available.

Sleeping arrangements are courtesy of a Smart Beds Evolution R crash-tested sliding bench/bed on rails and a roof bed in the Skyline pop-top roof. In keeping with the Tiger Moth theme, the control panel features an integrated aviation-themed clock. Prices start from £46,100.

The next model in the line-up is the

DH82. This is similar to the DH360 but features a fixed seat, instead. It also puts an emphasis on storage and features an additional built-in deep wardrobe fitted with LED lighting. Prices start at £45,200.

The latest addition to the Tiger Moth Campervan portfolio is the DH71, which is a two-berth day van.

This is ideal as a daily driver, since it features five travelling seats while a sixth is also optionally available.

It also comes with features such as roof bars, gloss black alloys, a rear spoiler and airbrushed side graphics to give it a distinctive appearance. Prices for the DH71 start at £37,890.

On the conversion side, the first two models are equipped, as standard, with things like a 50-litre Dometic fridge, a combined hob and sink unit, and worktops and furniture in a choice of finishes.

All models come with a leisure battery and electric hook-up, while a wide range of optional extras allow you to configure your campervan to suit your needs.

The Tiger Moth Campervan lowdown

Tiger Moth Campervan was set up in 2017 and developed by Nortree Motor Company, which is a family-run business that was established in 1952. The founder of Nortree Motor Company, Trevor Phillips, joined the RAF during the Second World War and carried out his training on the de Havilland Tiger Moth biplane. So, when Tiger Moth Campervan was set up by the next generation, the founders wanted to honour their grandfather, and that’s how the brand came about.

Each Tiger Moth is unique in that it displays an identification number with an airbrushed graphic that accentuates the heritage. This number allows the craftsmen at Tiger Moth Campervan to easily identify every camper it has ever built and therefore quickly answer any questions its customers may have.
