VW names first brands included in its new approval scheme

Volkswagen has announced the first campervan converters to be awarded certification through its new Motorhome Qualification Scheme.

Hillside Leisure, Jerba Campervans and Rolling Homes have all joined Volkswagen’s new approval scheme after meeting the strict criteria required in the chassis manufacturer’s new standard. These converters can now display official certification on their website and when marketing their 'vans.

Hillside Leisure, based in Derby, was founded in 2004 and converts both the Transporter and the larger Crafter van. Jerba Campervans is based in North Berwick, Scotland, and specialises in

Volkswagen Transporter conversions, while Rolling Homes has been converting Volkswagens for 35 years from its base in Shropshire.

Volkswagen launched its Motorhome Qualification Scheme this year to ensure high standards are followed by aftermarket converters, giving customers confidence in the quality of campervan conversions.

The scheme’s criteria requires converters to meet National or European Type Approval, pass stringent National Caravan Council standards, have a three-year trading history, register on the Body Builder Database, and provide a minimum of £5 million liability insurance cover. In addition, converters must offer the same warranty to match the base vehicle.
