Swift joins the pop-top camper market

-

Ahead of its official launch later this month, Swift has unveiled its all-new Monza rising roof campervan, based on the Ford Tourneo Custom short-wheelbase (the passenger-carrying version of the Transit Custom panel van).

The new compact campervan, which is priced from £58,395, is aimed at couples and young families. It comes with a 130PS engine and six-speed manual gearbox as standard, with the options of automatic transmission and to upgrade to a 170PS power output. It can be ordered in Orange Glow, Diffused Silver or Chrome Blue.

Inside, there is a three-person Reimo Variotech sliding rear bench seat, which converts into a double bed. There is a further double bed in the German-made rising roof, making it a four-berth campervan that is able to carry up to five people in belted seats.

The side kitchen is equipped with a two-burner gas hob, 42-litre drawer-style fridge and sink. There is also an external barbecue point and the option to add a Dometic mini-grill.

In the cab, the high-spec base vehicle has Ford’s latest ICE Pack 23, featuring a DAB radio with 8in touchscreen and Apple Carplay/ Android Auto, Bluetooth phone syncing and steering wheel controls. There are also front and rear parking sensors, a rear view camera, cruise control, 17in alloy wheels and a leather steering wheel.

There is also a choice of two furniture colour schemes – light cream or deep grey. A further option is part-leather upholstery.

Additional standard equipment includes a 100W solar panel and 2.2kw Eberspächer diesel-fired heating. There’s also an external shower point and a Dometic portable toilet in a dedicated locker.

“We’re extremely proud to launch our very first campervan. We’re known for our wide and credible ranges of leisure vehicles across touring caravans, motorhomes and holiday homes and lodges, so to now add a campervan to our line-up is absolutely brilliant,” said Swift Group Commercial Director, Nick Page, who obviously discounts the short-lived Autocruise Pulse (built by a Swift Group brand in 2009) as a true Swift campervan.
