WIN FOR POCK­LING­TON

The Pock­ling­ton Canal Amenity So­ci­ety has picked up £1,000 from the Aviva Com­mu­nity Awards thanks to the votes it re­ceived in an on­line poll. The money will go to­wards tools and ma­te­ri­als to be used by vol­un­teers restor­ing Sand­hills Lock, PCAS’s next project due to be started soon. Mean­while an open­ing date has been set for the cur­rent restora­tion project, with two miles of re­stored canal from Mel­bourne to Bielby set to re­open to boats on 25 July, fol­lowed by a boat rally the fol­low­ing week­end 27-28 July.
