Noted Ford car designer dies
On July 21, 2018, the Ford car designer Chris Svensson passed away from cancer, aged just 52.
Born in Sunderland, he enrolled in an art and design course at Sunderland Polytechnic, before joining Ford in 1992. One of his first tasks was to create a small city car, for which he came up with the Ka. He later worked for Ford in Germany, helping to develop the Focus, Mondeo, Puma, Fiesta and Fusion. He was also involved in creating the revamped FAB 1 driven by Lady Penelope in the 2004 Thunderbirds film.
He was living and working in the US at the time of his death.
