Noted Ford car de­signer dies

On July 21, 2018, the Ford car de­signer Chris Svens­son passed away from cancer, aged just 52.

Born in Sun­der­land, he en­rolled in an art and de­sign course at Sun­der­land Polytech­nic, be­fore join­ing Ford in 1992. One of his first tasks was to cre­ate a small city car, for which he came up with the Ka. He later worked for Ford in Ger­many, help­ing to de­velop the Fo­cus, Mon­deo, Puma, Fi­esta and Fu­sion. He was also in­volved in cre­at­ing the re­vamped FAB 1 driven by Lady Pene­lope in the 2004 Thun­der­birds film.

He was liv­ing and work­ing in the US at the time of his death.
