ASR OFF button

Car Mechanics (UK) - - Help! -

I have a 2010 Skoda Octavia 1.2 that has a button marked ‘ASR OFF’ which is not covered by the handbook. What is its function? William Mclean

ASR stands for Anti Slip Regulation and is better known by the more common name of traction control. As with all modern vehicles, the power supplied to the road wheels is electronically regulated and integrated with the ABS (Anti-lock Brake System). During all normal driving conditions, the electronic systems will perform well and the ‘ASR OFF' button should be left alone, although in exceptional circumstances some drivers will wish to use the button to override the electronic function.
