CHECK FLUID LEVELS

The coolant, power steering fluid, windscreen wash and brake fluid can all be checked from within the engine bay – see the annotated underbonnet photograph for more information. Brake fluid should be DOT 4. Coolant should be a pink colour. The power steering fluid should be ATF.

GREASE BONNET RELEASE

Apply grease over the two bonnet catches located along the front slam panel. Check that the safety catch on the underside of the bonnet has not seized because it prevents the bonnet flying up when driving – lubricate it if it’s stiff. Grease should also be applied to the hinges for the doors and boot.

RENEW AIR FILTER

The air filter is located inside a plastic housing at the front of the engine bay. Undo seven crosshead screws for the lid of the housing, then extract the old filter. Remove any debris from inside the air filter housing before fitting the new filter element.
