Spot-weld Cutters & Drills

-

Removing spot-welds cleanly and quickly without damaging a panel can be tricky because the metal around the weld will have become hardened, so it can be difficult to drill with an ordinary drillbit. These three new tool sets offer two different types of spot-weld remover and are suitable for a variety of panel materials and weld sizes.

The spot-weld cutter set (part no 7048) includes both an arbour-based spotweld cutter with a spring-loaded guide pin and an 8mm spot-weld drill, both designed for use with either electric or air-powered drills. The spot-weld cutter uses six interchangeable double-ended 9.5mm cutter heads. A shallow pilot hole is drilled in the centre of the spot-weld where the guide pin sits, while the cutter removes material around it until the top panel pops away from the panel underneath. The special 8mm spot-weld drill is manufactured from HSS cobalt steel for long life and is suitable for use with galvanised high-stress steel and alloys where excess heat can be generated. The drill features a special ground self-centring point and mills through welds to produce burr-free holes.

The spot-weld cutter set (part no 7049) features the arbour-based spot-weld cutter with 10 spare cutter heads, while the spot-weld drill set (part no 7050) has four titanium-coated HSS cobalt steel spot-weld drills in sizes 6.5mm x 45mm, 8mm x 45mm, 10mm x 45mm and 8mm x 79mm.

All three sets are supplied in sturdy, metal storage cases. The 7048 spot-weld cutter is typically priced at £40.22, the 7049 set is £45.72 and the 7050 set is £27.43.
