The old­est sur­viv­ing pro­duc­tion VW Bee­tle, des­ig­nated ve­hi­cle 20, has been fully re­stored af­ter be­ing found half-buried in clay in a gar­den in the Czech Repub­lic. Car nut On­drej Brom paid 60,000 ko­runa (about £2000) for the wreck, which was owned from new by noted Ger­man mu­sic com­poser Paul Lincke, and then spent 20 years re­turn­ing it to the road. The Ser­vicesure garage net­work has hit a ma­jor mile­stone as the Manor Mo­tor Com­pany be­comes its 500th mem­ber. Birm­ing­ham-based Manor was es­tab­lished in 2013 and of­fers MOTS, diagnostics and re­pairs for all makes/mod­els. The Ser­vicesure pro­gramme aims to of­fer ev­ery­thing a mod­ern in­de­pen­dent garage needs to thrive in to­day’s com­pet­i­tive busi­ness en­vi­ron­ment.

Arts Coun­cil Eng­land has awarded Full Ac­cred­i­ta­tion to The Bri­tish Mo­tor Mu­seum

in recog­ni­tion of it hold­ing sub­stan­tial col­lec­tions of na­tional im­por­tance and in­ter­na­tional in­ter­est and the stan­dards of its ex­hi­bi­tions, pub­lic ac­cess and learn­ing pro­grammes.
