Pollen filter fitting
It should really be a matter of course that when an air filter is replaced, so is the pollen filter. Unfortunately, we often find this is not the case and find a filter that is completely clogged. This puts an unnecessary load on the heater motor, often resulting in premature failure.
It can also harbour nasty germs, which breed in the warm and damp environment.
Some filters, like the one on this 2009 Ford Kuga, take a little more effort to access, but it’s well worth it. On the Kuga, the fusebox bracket needs to be unbolted from the passenger footwell to enable the filter housing door to be removed, so that the old filter can be slid out and replaced with a new one.
