Going topless
There’s one other variant worth mentioning and that’s the Coupe-cabriolet or CC. Launched at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, it was designed and developed by Pininfarina and built at their Bairo plant in Italy with a choice of petrol or diesel engines.
Sleek styling and a huge boot (248 litres with the roof down, 534 litres with it up) were pluses, but while it was impressively rigid, the additional 170kg took the edge off performance. Be aware that it was beset with problems from the beginning, with everything from dripping roof hydraulics to water leaks, and that there were various production halts and technical fixes from Ford.
