HANDY TIPS

-

The front of the car must be raised to provide clearance for the removal of the transmission assembly. Use strong axle stands, carefully positioned, to take the weight of the car while you are underneath it.

Wear protective shoes with steel toecaps – the transmission assembly, in particular, is very heavy.

If you need to change the gearbox as well as the clutch assembly, closely study both the new and original transmission units prior to installation, to make quite sure that they are compatible. Similarly, compare the new clutch assembly with the one that came from the car, to confirm they are similar in size/fit.

Relevant metric spanner sizes are shown in brackets in our captions.
