Faulty sat-nav
The DVD drive for the sat-nav will not load the navigation disc for my 2007 BMW 330i E93. I assume the drive is faulty – the disc is the original from 2007, but it looks OK. Do you know of anyone who can repair the drive? Is it worth buying a 2016 disc?
Also, the handbook seems to suggest that the DVD drive can play a CD when the sat-nav is not being used. I have tried this and get a message that says no disc is in the drive. Is this a common fault, taking into consideration the age of the car? David Pickard
The data I have states that the CD used in the drive must have a copy-protection function for it to play. This means that if the CD is homerecorded it may not operate in the drive.
Most faults with the disc drive are due to dirt on the DVD reader. The first step I would take is to try cleaning the unit using either a compressed air spray, such as this http://amzn.to/1vmpuqp, or a cleaning disc such as this
