Bit of a bender

-

Every time the weather turns cold and the roads get icy, we know we will have to fix a couple of vehicles which have lost grip with the road and had a collision.

This 2001 Ford Focus had slid across the road and hit a high kerb. Although no body damage was apparent, the steering would no longer drive the vehicle in a straight line.

It didn’t take too long for us to discover that the inner track rod was bent, which is an easy fix on the Focus. After ensuring the steering rack was OK, we replaced the inner track rod and, for the sake of a few quid, the track rod end. Resetting the tracking after the work was complete had the Focus steering in a straight line again.
