Nasty discovery

-

This 2013 Land Rover Discovery 4 had recently developed a clonking noise from the front suspension on acceleration and braking. The noise wasn’t too heavy, but the owner thought it prudent to get it sorted before it developed. We established that the rear bushes on the lower front arms had perished and were the cause of the unwanted movement. Ordering up the bushes, we rebooked the Discovery to return another day.

The bushes arrived and were all ready for the return of the Discovery, but when we attempted to replace the bushes we made an unwelcome discovery: the bolts securing the bushes had seized solid.

No amount of persuasion was going to undo the bolts, so we had to once again defer the job while we awaited two new bolts, so that we could remove the lower arm by cutting though the end of the existing bolts with an air-saw.

?? ?? The bolts would not budge, so we resorted to slicing them off with an air-saw.
