Oil grade change

-

Q: I have always used 10W-40 oil in my 2001 Volvo V70 T5. Last week I called in at my local motor factors, who said that, given my mileage of 160,000, a fully-synthetic 5W-40 would be a better option. I took them at their word and used it – it is Synplus fully-synthetic triple QX 5W-40. What is your view on this? SP Skelton

A: The recommended oil for your vehicle, regardless of mileage, is a 5W-40 fully-synthetic oil. The Synplus fully-synthetic triple QX 5W-40 is a perfect choice for the engine and I would use it with confidence.
