Power failure

- Ford Motor Company · Iceland · Ford Focus 2

► The owner of this 2002 Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI had noticed a lack of power and was concerned that trouble was looming, even though all was well at his MOT four months earlier. What we found was something that is quite common on the turbocharged Focus and is easily remedied: one of the intercooler hoses had perished and the turbo was losing boost pressure. As a precautionary measure, we decided to replace both of the intercooler pipes, which should keep the oil burner running nicely till the next scheduled service.

?? ?? The intercooler pipe had split and was allowing loss of boost pressure.
