ESP light on

- Dorothy Delstrain

The ESP lights come on when my Nissan Qashqai 1.5 K9K 2WD diesel is started without moving. Two fault codes are showing: ‘C1130’ and ‘C1132’. I’ve checked the signal from the wheel sensors and they are OK. The only clue I’ve got is that it could be a blocked pipe from the exhaust manifold to a sensor.

You have not mentioned any lack of power or driving problems, so it’s unlikely that the ESP light would be related to a blocked pipe from the exhaust manifold to a sensor. The electronic stabilisation programme is not normally affected by engine management faults.

Both of the codes you have are related to either an ABS module or an ECM fault. I would suspect it’s more likely the ABS module has failed, however Autodata informs me that there was a software update for the ECM in relation to the fault you are experiencing. For this reason, my first course of action would be to contact the main dealer with regard this update. If it has already been carried out or if it doesn’t resolve the problem, I would send the ABS unit to either ecutesting.com or bbareman.com to be tested and repaired if required.
