There’s no denying the fact that a number of talented rivals can offer greater levels of style and dynamic polish, so if those are attributes you admire then best look elsewhere. But should an undemanding driving experience and ease of use sit higher on your list of priorities, the Micra becomes a much more appealing proposition.
Interior space, reliability and low running costs are definite pluses, while the perky and frugal DIG-S engine isn’t without charm, so that would be our choice.
That the overall package is somewhat mediocre when measured against the class best is a shame and a missed opportunity by Nissan, but the prospect of hassle-free ownership means it still deserves a place on your shopping list.
