Stuck ABS sensor
I have to replace the front nearside ABS sensor on my 2002 Honda Civic, as it has gone open circuit. I’m worried about seized retaining bolts and don’t want to end up having to drill out a stuck sensor and risk damaging the driveshaft. Could you recommend an effective penetrating oil? David Reid
One tip is to ensure that, whatever penetrating oil you use, it is applied well in advance to give it a good chance to soak in and do its job. The penetrating oil that gets my vote is Plusgas (www.plusgas.co.uk). As the sensor body is plastic, the only part that may get stuck with corrosion is the securing bolt, so give it a good soaking a few hours before trying to remove it.
