Oil service

-

I have a 2013 Honda CR-V 2.2 I-DTEC and want to do a 6000-mile oil and filter change between the main 12,000-mile services carried out at the Honda dealer. I have had the vehicle for three years and carried out the last 6000mile oil and filter change using a Sealey manual vacuum extractor via the dipstick tube. I now want to use the conventional method of draining the oil via the sump plug to make sure that any debris/sludge is removed. What are the correct torque settings for the sump plug and oil filter? Mark Day

As you say, draining the oil from the sump will ensure that any contaminants in the oil have the best chance of being removed during the oil change. The torque setting for the sump plug on your Honda is 40Nm and the setting for the oil filter is 25Nm. As you have changed the oil in the past, you will be aware that the sump capacity is 5.5 litres.
